A sigh of relief went round the Mountain with the news that retiring owner Joan Thomas has found buyers for Mooney’s Market & Emporium, and the Monteagle icon will remain open.

The buyers are Mallory Grimm and Trapp Tubbs, who own LUNCH in Sewanee.

“Mallory and Trapp bring the perfect values and skill set to Mooney’s to continue successful operation into the future – and Mallory is a knitter!” Thomas said, noting the new owners intend to keep Mooney’s pretty much the same for now.

“We are so grateful and excited to continue the Mooney’s legacy and build on all of Joan’s hard work and vision,” the new owners said.

Thomas will work closely with them to pass on knowledge for a smooth transition, which will take place after July 4.
