SAS MS track break two school records

On Wednesday, March 18, the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee middle school track team traveled to Siegel High School to compete in the Siegel 4 MS Meet, where both the boys’ and girls’ teams turned in strong performances.

The meet was highlighted by standout efforts from Nora Jane Elrod, who broke the middle school mile record for the second time this season, running an impressive 6:16.40— more than 10 seconds faster than her previous record. Will Moody also set a new middle school boys’ discus record with a throw of 91–6.00, surpassing the old mark by nearly 30 feet.

Several athletes achieved personal bests during the meet. On the girls’ side, Nora Jane Elrod ran a PR in the 400 m, Maclyn Bloecher set PRs in both the mile and the 100 m, Eva Gheesling recorded a PR in the mile, and Arabella Barry achieved a PR in the long jump.

On the boys’ side, Davey Allen, Fletcher Keener, and Oliver Keener each set personal bests in the 400 m, while Oliver Keener and Davey Allen also recorded PRs in the 100 m. Overall, it was a great day of competition and continued progress for the team.

“We are really proud of how the team competed,” said Coach Mahler. “Breaking two school records at this point in the season is exciting, and it’s great to see so many athletes continuing to improve and set personal bests.”

You can catch the Mountain Lions in action at home on Friday, March 27th. Meet kicks off at 3:45.
