Monteagle eyes expanding business diversity
In 2019, Grundy County passed Resolution 19-5-20c, banning rock crushers, new gravel pits, and new quarries within 5,000 feet of schools, homes, churches, and stores. This was passed to provide a quick way for the local government to protect rural areas from the adverse side effects of large-scale industry.

Residents raise stink over sewer
This past May, a house bill, “Southern Cumberland Plateau Regional Water and Wastewater Authority,” was introduced to upgrade water and wastewater systems in Grundy County and surrounding areas. Grundy County officials have begun expanding this water system to The Caverns and into the Pelham area near the interstate exit.
