School go virtual for week

Schools will go to virtual learning this coming week due to illness that is sweeping through the school system.

“Due to an increase in illness in students and staff throughout our school system, Grundy County Schools will transition to virtual learning Monday through Friday,” the school system announced earlier this week. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we take steps to help protect the health and well-being of our students and staff.”

Given the closure, school officials announced their plan to send lunch home for the following week with students on Friday, Nov. 6. In the meantime, school officials urged students and parents to follow all established virtual school procedures to stay in communication with teachers regarding assignments and expectations.

School officials said they could not comment on the exact nature of the illness that forced the virtual plans, citing HIPPA restraints.
