Community members will have the opportunity to walk with Grundy County Mayor Michael Brady in Pelham, on April 13. This Activ8 Grundy event marks the end of the “Lunch Walk Challenge” and “Walk Across Grundy,” health initiatives encouraging Grundy County residents to increase daily step counts and overall wellness.
The event will begin with a 10:30 a.m. walk with the mayor around Pelham beginning at Toyo Seat, celebrating all who participated in the “Lunch Walk Challenge” and “Walk Across Grundy.” Top individual participants in the “Lunch Walk Challenge” logged over 1,400 miles of activity, and top teams over 2,700 miles.
After the recognition ceremony awarding the teams’ exceptional work, Toyo Seat will lead a tour of the facility, and lunch will be provided. Though the “Walk with the Mayor” celebrates the end of two Activ8 Grundy fitness challenges, it also marks the launch of a new “Passport to Health” program rewarding healthy choices including farmer’s market purchases, fitness classes, and cooking demonstrations.
Activ8 Grundy meetings are held at the UT Extension Office the third Tuesday of every month, at 11 a.m., followed by the Grundy Health Council meeting at 12 p.m. Learn more about countywide health programming by visiting the Grundy County Health Council calendar at https://tinyurl.com/gchccalendar, www.facebook.com/activ8grundy/, and www.facebook.com/GrundyCountyHealthCouncil/.
