Big Creek Utility District announced Tuesday that the Mandatory Water Restrictions, imposed on November 1, are no longer in effect. The recent rains have raised the lake water level by thirty inches.
The customers of Big Creek Utility District excelled in conserving water during the drought. These conservation efforts significantly extended the life of the lake to the point that no one in the Big Creek Utility District service area was without water due to the drought and Big Creek did not have to assert more stringent restrictions.
The drought is still not over. Customers are advised to be diligent in protecting and conserving water because according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), dry weather could return before water levels are back to normal.
Big Creek Utility District is actively looking for ways to buffer the water system for periods of water shortage including working toward acquiring additional water sources. Please use water wisely, even when it appears plentiful.
