Three members of the Kirby-Smith Chapter 327, United Daughters of the Confederacy, attended the 123rd Tennessee Division Convention, in Greenville. The event was held at the General Morgan Inn and Conference Center.
The chapter received 37 chapter awards and three individual awards. Rebecca Odell received a Certificate of Merit from Tennessee Division President Brenda Hall McDonald for Dedicated Service Rendered to the President’s Project to Document the Confederate Service of Tennesseans of Color. Patricia Street and Rebecca Odell received a Certificate of Award for being Convention Pages. Pages are dressed in all white and wear a red sash. They provide much needed assistance to everyone in attendance. Syble Throneberry also attended the convention. She was awarded a National Defense Medal in honor of her sister 1st Lt. Laura Ann Farris Barabas.
The Kirby-Smith Chapter holds its meetings on the third Saturday of each month at the Oak Resturant in Manchester. The meetings begin at 11:15 a.m., and are open to the public.
