The Kirby-Smith Chapter 327 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy recently installed their newly-elected officers for the 2018-2020 term. The ceremony took place during the August 18 chapter meeting.
The Kirby-Smith Chapter 327 was chartered in Sewanee on September 30, 1899, with 27 members and was named in memory of General Edmund Kirby-Smith. The first meeting was held October 28, 1899, at the home of Telfair Hodgson, the daughter of General Benjamin F. Cheatham. The chapter currently has 23 active members and two associate members; it meets on the third Saturday of each month at the Oaks Restaurant in Manchester.
