During the annual Trails and Trilliums celebration on April 10-12, several students from area schools participated in a new program called the Trails and Trilliums Children’s Choir sponsored by the Friends of the South Cumberland. The event was held on Friday evening, April 10, in the auditorium in the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly. The guest conductor was Mary Goetz and guest artist was Carol Ponder. The accompanist was Nancy Boone Allsbrook, who also led the choir for students with representatives from Monteagle Elementary. Students from Cowan Elementary, Sewanee Elementary, Tracy City Elementary, North Elementary, Coalmont Elementary, and home schooled children performed vocally with songs from Appalachian folklore. This was a wonderful opportunity for area students to shine and learn about Appalachian culture. Monteagle Elementary students from grades 4-8 who performed: MiKenna Harris, Alazae Long, Eli Wilson, Phoebe Foshee, Emma Fults, Dannie Williams, Gabriel Suchy, MacKenzie Rutherford, Abby Newsome, Traci Foshee, Courtney Meeks, and Kaleb Swearington.
