An early evening traffic stop this past Saturday yielded one motorcycle operator more than just a citation. Deputy Paul Sweeton initiated a traffic stop on a 1994 Harley Davidson Sportster operated by James Stacey Northcutt after he failed to stop at the intersection of Clouse Hill Road and Hwy. 56.
During the traffic stop, Deputy Sweeton discovered the motorcycle was reported stolen out of Rutherford County. Upon further investigation, Northcutt was found to be in possession of nine grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
He was arrested and transported to the Grundy County Jail. Rutherford County detectives were notified.
“Traffic enforcement is perhaps the most effective tool law enforcement has in deterring crime and apprehending criminals. In this case, a simple traffic violation resulted in drugs off the street and property returned to the owner,” stated Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum.
