Three Things To Do This Weekend

Looking to add something different to your weekend? A motorcycle ride to benefit Mid Tn USO, an annual arts and crafts fair, and a heritage fest are on the hot list.

Swiss Celebration (G-L)

The Grundy County Swiss Historical Society will host the 41st Swiss Celebration on the grounds of the Stoker-Stampfli Farm Museum in Gruetli-Laager on July 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Enjoy music under the new pavilion by the Musik Meisters, a group that plays German music in Nashville; and the Bazzania Band, an all-female group from Sewanee. In addition, there will be hayrides, buggy rides, and tours of the farmhouse, barn, and other out buildings dating back to 1869. swiss heritage 2

Lockhart’s Barbecue and other food vendors will be on site, along with crafts and area organizations and displays of old farming tools and accessories. You will find a yard sale, historical documents, and books and memorabilia on sale at the membership stand.

Become a member and support the preservation of a Swiss farm dating back to 1869 when a group of Swiss immigrants came to America to seek a better way of life. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Mountain Market (Monteagle)

The 56th Annual Monteagle Mountain Market of Arts and Crafts will be held on July 25 and 26. The festival will feature over 85 artisans and crafters displaying handmade creations including fine art, stained glass, pottery, fine and primitive furniture, bird houses, paintings in a variety of media, quilts, woodcrafts, toys, jewelry, metal and glass art, hand sewn and embroidered items, and much more.

Several demonstrators will be joining the Mountain Market. Visitors can enjoy blacksmithing, charcoal and graphite drawing, glass demonstrations, woodcrafts, and chain saw carving.arts-and-crafts-festival

Prizes will be drawn throughout the day (you must be present to win.) Kids can enjoy the park and playground.

Beans and BBQ, Mediterranean foods, Italian and homemade ice creams, fried green tomatoes, chicken kabobs, kettle corn, roasted corn, hamburgers, sundaes, apple dumplings are just a few of the delicious foods available.

The Monteagle Mountain Market Arts and Crafts Show will be held behind the Monteagle City Hall, located at 16 Dixie Lee Ave. from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The ride through Middle Tennessee’s scenic countryside, will begin with rider check-in at NOON CST at Sloan’s Motorcycles in Murfreesboro. The ride will depart at 1 p.m. and end in Lynchburg, TN where there will be a Meet & Greet with Shawna and Keifer Thompson, live performance and BBQ dinner provided by Sloan’s Motorcycles.

One hundred percent of proceeds benefit the local Middle Tennessee USO.
