The Tennessee Highway Patrol is partnering with Grundy County High School in their first THP High School Mentorship program. Grundy County High School and Bledsoe County High School will be the first two high schools the THP will be mentoring.
The program will consist of an officer being on campus at least once a week to attend practice and talk with the football team about leadership and making good life decisions. Their goal is to inspire these young men to become leaders. Guest speakers will be brought in to speak on how to be a leader on and off the field and on safety education.
Lieutenant John Harmon visited with the team on Friday and talked with them about becoming leaders and the importance of displaying leadership to their peers at all times. Lt Harmon not only spoke with them about leadership but also safety in school and while driving.
Lt Harmon and the THP are excited to get this program started and want to thank the school system, Principal Deidre Helton, and Head Coach Tracy Hayworth for allowing them this opportunity. “We look forward to mentoring these young men and being on the sidelines at some games with them”, stated Lt Harmon.
