K9 Tango is the newest member of the Tracy City Police Department

The Tracy City Police Department welcomed a new officer last week. K9 Tango, a four-year-old German Shepard from Germany, will be on patrol with the department’s K9 Officer Dustin Pack. K9 Officer Pack and K9 Tango were certified with the National Working Dog Association.
Tracy City Police Chief Charlie Wilder says com-munity members expressed interest in the town obtaining a police dog, and he reached out to Nashville K9, a training organization. Nashville K9 donated K9 Tango, minus a small administration fee, to the Tracy City Police Department.
“K9 Officer Pack was chosen to be our handler because he really expressed an interest in working with a K9 as a partner,” explained Wilder. “He put in a lot of self-effort to become a nationally certified handler and put himself through K9 handling school.”
The TCPD asks com-munity members to act responsibly around K9 Tango and not to approach him unless instructed to do so by K9 Officer Pack. K9 Tango is a trained working dog and his duties will include apprehending criminals.
Chief Wilder is currently seeking donations for a Kevlar vest and food for K9 Tango. If you are interested, contact Chief Wilder at the Tracy City Police Department at 931-592-9711.
