The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is searching for three males who vandalized Palmer Elementary School early Friday morning.
“This school is the staple of our community and it just sickens me to see this kind of thing happen,” said Palmer’s Mayor Daniel Crabtree.
Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum reported that eight doors were shattered when three males deliberately trashed the school.
Sheriff Clint Shrum said the vandals came back several times between 1 a.m. – 4 a.m., on Friday morning to add to the damage at Palmer Elementary.
Shrum says the people who did this did not take anything and did this out of spite.
Director of Schools Glenda dykes said security cameras captured images of the three individuals believed to be responsible for the vandalism.
“It’s sickening. It’s nonsense. It doesn’t do anything but cost the tax payers money,” Shrum added.
The mayor believes the cruelty of a few won’t shatter the spirit of the small town of Palmer.
“I would like to see the community come together to find out who’s responsible for this,” said Crabtree.
Mayor Crabtree says teachers worked all day Friday, to clean up the mess and investigators are working to make the surveillance video from Friday morning clearer.
