The local libraries would like to invite everyone to join in the fun with summer reading. The theme for summer reading at all Grundy County libraries is “Libraries Rock,” and each library’s program will offer prizes, drawings, story times, activities, and more. The programs are an excellent opportunity to encourage children to read during the summer.
“Libraries Rock” is a fun way to include reading and related activities in summer family time while helping children maintain or improve reading skills. Studies have shown that reading skills grow by regular reading, and children will read more when they read for enjoyment.
The local libraries encourage parents and grandparents to attend the program at their local library and read to their children daily.
The libraries are asking for volunteers for the program. Parents and teenagers are welcome to volunteer. It is an opportunity for high school students to earn volunteer hours.
