A standoff between Grundy County Sheriff Deputies and Matthew Chase Nunley occurred on Sunday, October 13, at 155 Coke Oven Road in Coalmont.
Nunley (35) fired at least one shot and threatened an individual who came to the residence looking for his estranged daughter. When deputies arrived, Nunley ran into the house and locked the door.
Sheriff Shrum stated after several failed attempts to make contact with Nunley, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Entry Team was called to the scene.
Approximately three hours after the standoff, Nunley surrendered without incident.
