Four members of the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School Girls’ Wrestling team went to the TSSAA State Wrestling Championship this past weekend.

Verena Pate ‘23 (Sewanee), Melanie Val ‘24 (Tracy City), Stella Wilson ’25 (Monteagle), and Hadlee Hale ‘24 (Manchester) traveled to the Williamson County Expo Center in Franklin on Feb. 24-26. Hale and Wilson wrestled extremely well but came up short against strong competition that eliminated them from the competition. Val made it to the consolation round and finished 4th in her weight class. Pate, for the second year in a row, made it to the championship match but fell short to Audrey Levendusky from Montgomery Central. The team overall placed tenth out of 58 teams. The SAS community is proud of these four wrestlers for their tireless dedication and devotion to their sport.
