Softball is Perfect in District Play

Posted on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:21 am

Grundy’s girls picked up another district win last week before rain knocked out games on Thursday and Friday. The team is on spring break and will return to action Tuesday at Signal Mountain. The Lady Jackets are now 3-6 overall and 3-0 in the district.

Softball“We are 3-0 in the District with two teams left to play for the first time. Our returning players are starting to get into a groove but we still need some players off the bench to be able to jump in and help out. They are starting to come around and with this week being spring break, we should be able to clear our minds, get healthy, and focus on our goal of a strong finish to the season.

“Our pitchers are really starting to improve in limiting the number of free bases we give up. Although we return a lot from last season, every year and every team have their own chemistry. This group has not developed their complete identity yet, but they are working hard to grow into the roles they must play. I’m very proud of the defensive improvements we have made over the past week, but we still are working to improve the offensive output.

“I’m very proud of our three seniors and their output so far. Madison Burrows and Sierra Kilgore are both hitting over .400 for the season so far, and Madison Rogers is over .400 on base percentage and has hit two homeruns already. If we can get the whole team buying in to what the juniors and seniors are selling, we will have a fun return from spring break,” said Coach Jason Evans.
