The Lady Jackets completed only one contest last week as the rain suspended play against Bledsoe County on Thursday. That one game was another win and the Lady Jackets have moved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district play.
“Our team has come a long way in not just the last three years but this season also. We were down 6-0 in the top of the first against Bledsoe but kept our composure and just kept playing ball. When we resume Thursday’s game, we will be in the bottom of the third and up 10-9.
“This team is more upbeat and resilient than any group we’ve had to date. Our girls really play well together and keep each other focused on playing good ball. We will be going to Cookeville Friday and Saturday for our first tournament of the year are looking to make a good showing against some solid competition.
“We are still young and making some mistakes but we’re improving every day. Our two seniors are doing an outstanding job of leading by example. It’s just a great group of young women to be around every day,” said Coach Jason Evans.
The game with Bledsoe will be completed Thursday. It was in the third inning when rain ended the contest. Friday and Saturday, they will be in the Lady Panther Classic in Cookeville. Monday they host North Jackson at 5 p.m. Tuesday Signal Mountain comes to Coalmont for a 5 p.m. district game. Get out and support the Lady Jackets this week!
