Grundy County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on Monday, January 12, at 5109 Hwy 56 in Coalmont at the home of Charles Donald Meeks following a three month investigation.
According to Sheriff Clint Shrum, authorities received information there was possible illegal activity revolving around drugs and stolen property at the home. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and served while Meeks was at home.
Authorities found approximately 7.2 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and five guns that had been reported stolen. One of the weapons recovered was a .308 Winchester Model 100 that had been stolen a week prior from a burglary that occurred at the home of a deputy. The rifle was not a departmental issued weapon. One of the guns recovered was reported stolen from California.
The sheriff’s office also seized over $1,000 in cash. Meeks was charged along with Larry Shannon Meeks of Pelham. The investigation is ongoing.
