Since the first Ronald McDonald House drive sponsored by Grundy Farm Bureau Women, the value of donations collected each year from all across Grundy County has increased. Grundy FBW was invited last year to participate in the annual Ronald McDonald House telethon, and was recognized in the Ronald McDonald House Annual Report publication as a member of the “Grand Givers Society”, a title to honor having given more than $1,000 in annual donations. In 2014, Grundy County contributed $4,200 cash, 30 – plus gallons of aluminum can tabs, and over $2,000 in items. About half of the total value of statewide Farm Bureau Women contributions to Ronald McDonald houses across Tennessee in 2014 was provided by Grundy County. The American Farm Bureau Federation has discontinued the “Food Checkout Week” observance and is now sponsoring a program called “Our Food Link”. Farm Bureau Women across the state are being encouraged to sponsor a charity in their area to observe this celebration. Grundy FBW are continuing the annual drive for the Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga as a way of paying tribute to the blessings we have in America for our plentiful food supply, and expressing appreciation to those who work to produce it. Grundy FBW is committed to continue support of Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga because of the great service it provides to our local citizens. All Grundy County individuals, churches, businesses and community organizations are invited to participate in this annual drive. If posters or any other information are needed, please call 931-592-6329, and materials will be provided.
