Purple and Gold win in Big 8 All-Star game

The fourth annual Big 8 All Star game was played last Friday, at GCHS. North Lady Warriors coach Brittany Woodlee coached the Purple team and Palmer Lady Bulldogs coach Daniel Crabtree coached the Gold team for the girls. In the boys’ game, Swiss Wildcats coach Brandon Magouirk coached the Purple team and Pelham Tigers coach Dale Harshman coached the Gold team.
Purple 42 Gold 37
The Purple team led the entire contest and held off the Gold team for the 42-37 win. North’s Jalie Ruehling led the Purple team with 13 points. Kaylee Smartt of North followed with 9 points. Briley Dempsey of Swiss scored 7 points. Charlsie Campbell of Coalmont added 6 points. Carlee Smartt of North had 5 points and Sophie Layne of Palmer tossed in 2 points.
Coalmont’s Abigail Childers led the Gold team with 17 points. Kaitlyn Kirby of North had 8 points. Jordan McCullough of Coalmont and Maci Freeman of Palmer scored 4 points each. Alissa Dodson of Swiss and Olivia Nunley of Coalmont added 2 points each.
Gold 49 Purple 47
The Gold team lead the entire game until the Purple team was able to tie it up in the fourth, sending the game to overtime. The Gold team outscored the Purple team in overtime for the 49-47 win. Pelham’s Chase Layne led the Gold team with 13 points. Lynden King of Pelham followed with 9 points. Dawson Misiolek of Swiss scored 8 points. Austin Higgins of Coalmont had 7 points. Riley Hammond of Monteagle scored 5 points. Peyton Price of Pelham added 3 points. Justin Jacobs of Pelham and Elijah Seavey of SAS tossed in 2 points each.
North’s Kaleb Hartenstein led the Purple team with 15 points. Tyler Byers of Tracy followed with 8 points. Jordan Nance of Swiss scored 7 points. Jacob Church of Monteagle had 4 points. Ian Stotts of Swiss, Levi Nance of Palmer, and Riley Taylor of Monteagle all added 3 points each. Luke Rymer of North and Jr Crisp of Tracy tossed in 2 points each.
