Grundy County pastor William E. “Tim” Smith has waived a preliminary hearing in the case of attempted child rape that led to his arrest on May 31.
Smith was arrested on May 31, when Grundy County Sheriff deputies found him with the 12 year old off of Ross Creek Road in Gruetli-Laager. Read from the incident report here.
Smith appeared in General Sessions Court on Tuesday, June 5, before Judge Trey Anderson. This was his first court appearance after the arrest and it was at this appearance that he waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Anderson bound the case over to the Grand Jury and set a $200,000 bond. If Smith posts bond he will have to wear a tracking device and have no contact with he victim.
The Grand Jury meets on July 9.
