Grundy County Schools competed in an attendance competition to see which school would attain the highest attendance rate for improved attendance in November. As a result, Palmer Elementary School took home the attendance trophy for November. Palmer Elementary School had the highest improved attendance at 96.21 percent. Following Palmer Elementary School, Swiss Memorial Elementary School ranked second place with 95.64 percent. Pelham Elementary school was in third place with 95.17 percent.
School attendance is especially important for children because of success in later years and achievement at higher levels.
In addition to the monthly improved attendance, Swiss Memorial Elementary School secured the Pre-K improved attendance trophy for the month of November. Swiss Memorial Elementary School’s Pre-K attendance was ranked at 94.17 percent. Pelham Elementary School ranked second with a 94 percent, and Coalmont Elementary School achieved third place with 91.11 percent in improved attendance for Pre-K.
Attending preschool allows the child an opportunity to learn and grow with other children. It can serve as an important routine to prepare the child for kindergarten readiness as it promotes language, learning, and cognitive skills.
