CHILDERS, JAMES, ERIC, age 42, of Flat Branch Community near Tracy City, TN, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Thelma Sitz; paternal grandparents, Louie and Susie Childers.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Glenda Childers, Tracy City; sister, Cheryl (Michael) Grimes, Altamont; nieces and nephews, Madelyn Grace, Amelia Hope, Justin and Sydney; several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Howard Fults, Leslie Sanders and Elmer Green conducting the services. Burial will be in Gregg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. On line condolences may be made at www.fosterlayfuneralhome.net.

HOLDER, MELROSE, H., age 95, of Pelham, TN, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at True Care Living Center in Palestine, TX. She was born in Pelham, TN, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Bessie Meeks Hamby. Melrose graduated from Grundy County High School and attended MTSU for 2 years, followed by teaching for a few years. She was a member of the Future Homemakers of America and the Pelham United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Melrose lived in Tullahoma, TN until 1982, when she moved in with her sister, Jewell Goodman, and together, they operated Pelham Food Market. She also helped her sister, Jewell, run the farm after her brother-in-law, Lude Goodman passed away. She loved children and growing her favorite roses.
In addition to her parents, Melrose was also preceded in death by her husband, H.E. “Jug” Holder, whom she married in 1951; one brother, Hagan Hamby; and two sisters, Nana Lou Hamby Meeks and Jewell Hamby Goodman. She is survived by one son, Edward Donovan (Patricia) Holder of Murfreesboro, TN; one daughter, Rosalyn (Dr. Charles) Bennett of Palestine, TX; one grandchild, Alicia (Jim) Halbert; two great grandchildren, Reid and Kathryn Halbert; niece, Joy Meeks (Fred) Yarbro; nephew, Grant Meeks; and great niece, Brittany Yarbo.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. De Hennessee and Miriam Seyler officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

BIVENS MAE, ARLENE, age 90, of Gruetli-Laager, TN, passed away at her home Monday August 4, 2014 with her family at her side. She was a member of Bivens Chapel Congregational Methodist Church. She was born in Tracy City on August 23, 1923 to Hershel and Minnie Johnson Brown who preceded her in death along with her husband, William T. Bivens; an infant son; son, Charles Bivens; grandsons, Quentin and Matthew Bivens.
She is survived by her sons, Don and Mark Bivens; daughters, Willene (Preston) Knowlan, Mary Thomas, Alma Anderson, Joyce (Brad) Layne and Darlene (Anthony) Sanders; sister, Wanda Lee Meeks; 25 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 4 great- great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday August 6, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Campbell officiating.
Burial was in the Fall Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Gruetli-Laager, TN
