SANDERS, ANITA, JEAN, age 51, of Monteagle, TN, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga, TN.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Annette Patterson; two sons, Dewayne (Jennifer) Sanders and Brian Lee (Cristin)  Sanders; brothers, Wayne, Dennis and Steve Patterson; sisters, Sherry Patterson, Rita Guess, Julie McFalls and Franny Patterson; three grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, and Nelson, Jr., Brandon Taylor, Brianna Gawrys and Ethan Gawrys; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 15, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Elder Franklin Hill and Reverend Bobby Winton officiating. Burial followed at the Summerfield Cemetery. On line condolences can be made at

MYERS, ERNEST, CARMEN,born June 11, 1922 in Pelham. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice Campbell Myers, his wife, Bonnie Patterson Myers, second wife, Ruth Lassiter Myers. Brothers; William Floyd Myers, Thomas Pascal Myers, James Myrtle Myers, Archie Ross Myers, Carl David Myers, Edgar Allen Myers.  Sisters; Gladys Gordon, Sula Mae Edwards, Georgia Lee Simmons.

He is survived by his son, Lavon Myers, grandson, Lee Don Myers, granddaughter, Lori McBee, 2 great grandchildren, Colt and Case McBee and one sister, Malinda Jeweldean Scheer who is 102 years old. He is also survived by his so special caretaker, Glenda Patterson, an angel by his side for the past few years.  He so loved “that woman down the street”.

He was a machinist at AEDC for many years where he retired.  He went on to enjoy his love of farming and raising cattle.

He enjoyed many days on the lake fishing and enjoyed sharing his catches with his friends and family.  He even tried to help people, especially Lavon.  They were all fishing one time and Carmon and Ruth were the only ones catching fish.  Lavon and his friend were right behind them doing the same thing they were doing.  Carmon even gave them the same plugs he was using and they still couldn’t catch anything.  They couldn’t help but laugh at these two.  They finally decided to leave with “some people just can’t be helped!!

Lavon also recalled many fun adventures with his dad squirrel and rabbit hunting.

He was part of a big family and enjoyed many years of getting together with them as they held family reunions.

He was surrounded by friends and family the previous evening and was able to tell everyone how much he loved them and appreciated them.  He died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning, August 13th.  He will be missed by everyone.

Funeral Services were held Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Cumberland Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend De Hennessy officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery, Pelham, Tennessee.

CAMPBELL, VIOLET, H.,age 92, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at The Bridge at Monteagle.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley A. Campbell; parents, Ben Sr. and Meddie (Crick) Hampton; son, Bobby Hampton, Sr.; brothers, Ben Hampton, Jr., Charles Hampton, Jimmy Hampton; sisters, Mozella Parsons, Margaret Priest, Catherine Edger, Edna Mae Fultz, Nellie Hampton, and Pauline Hampton; grandsons, Robert Lee and Johnny Wayne Hampton.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Rose) Campbell, Charles (Mary) Campbell, and Ronnie (Renee) Campbell; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 17, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ernest Lockhart officiating.  Burial followed in the Hobbs Hill Cemetery.

LANKFORD, JAMES, W., SR., “BO JOHN”, age 79, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed from this life to his heavenly home early Monday morning with his family and friends by his bedside.

“Bo John” was born in Cheatham County, a son of the late Newton Johnston Lankford and Eunice Estelle Lovelace Lankford, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis and Lloyd “Bubba” Lankford.

He and his family moved to Monteagle in the 1960’s to work on the interstate highway, he was a heavy equipment operator. After the interstate was built over the mountain, “Bo John” made Monteagle his home and later moved to Tracy city. He continued to work in the construction business and operated his own business for many years and then worked at the Grundy County Highway Department until he retired. “Bo John” had been active in the Grundy County Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Gum Springs Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Lankford; children, Charles Thomas, Jackie (Laurie) Campbell, Sharon Campbell, Elizabeth (Brandon) Pressley, Kristie (Robert) Tuders and James W. Lankford, II, a nephew, Howard Lewis Lankford who he had raised and loved as a son; a special niece, Megan O’Neal; sister, Lois June Hatfield; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00 p.m., Saturday at Gum Springs Congregational Methodist Church with Reverend Ernest Lockhart officiating. The family asks that memorials be made to Gum Springs Congregational Methodist Church, Handicap Parking Lot Project,

ORANGE, JOHN, BUFORD,age 54, of Altamont, TN, passed away Monday August 18, 2014.  He was born December 25, 1959 in Warren County, Tennessee to James and Johnnie Mae Anderson Orange.   He is survived by his son, Jonathan (Sasha) Orange; daughter, Jamie Orange; companion, Constance “Von” Bradford; sisters, Margaret Orange and Susie Meeks; brothers, Ray (Rose), Carl (Elise), Doug (Angelia), William (Treva) and Stephen (Meshon) Orange, Lee Bowers; 6 grandchildren, Cadence, Javyn, Gavin, Bailey, Keira and Khloe. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Coy King officiating with burial to follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.
