IRVIN, EVELYN, GAIL, age 68, of Coalmont passed away Saturday August 8, 2015 at the Willows in Winchester with her family at her side.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on December 5, 1946 to Dave and  Pearl Nunley Green who preceded her in death along with her infant son, Johnny Kyle Irvin; sister, Arlene Long; brothers, Ottis, Everett and William “Red” Green. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Irvin; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Billy Harrell of Lascassas, Tennessee; brother, Charles Green, Palmer and sister, Geneva Bouldin, McMinnville; granddaughters, Carrigan Summers and Kendall Harrell; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister and brother-in-law, Russell Irvin officiating. Burial followed in the Coalmont Cemetery.  Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

 

FINCHUM, LLOYD, WAYNE, age 58, of Decherd, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at his residence.  Funeral services were held Friday, August 7, 2015 in Moore-Cortner Chapel with interment at Jackson Cemetery.  Arrangements were provided by Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester, TN.

 

MCCUTCHEON, EDWARD, T., age 80, of Oxford, MI went to Heaven on August 5, 2015 with his family by his side.  He was a kind, loving, God fearing, and honorable man who adored his family.  A beloved husband of Charlyne. Loving father of the late Durand (Cathy) McCutcheon, Leah (Kyle) Williams, and Chelise (Rich) Sylva. Grandfather of Dustin, Tiffany, Breana, Alyssa, Ariana, Jacob, Noah, Abigail, Austin and Roman.  Great-Grandfather of Caden.  Edward was devoted to his faith; taught Sunday school and supported many Christian charities. He served in the U.S. Army, and had a 30 year career in management with General Motors.

In his youth; he was captain of his high school football team in Grundy County, TN and earned four college football scholarships before graduating. Several years ago; his school honored him, with retiring his number, during an anniversary homecoming game. He had a green thumb and his love of both flower and vegetable gardening kept him outdoors for hours at a time.  He was so proud when people would tell him his yard looked like a park.

Funeral Service were held Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Mt. Zion Church 4900 Maybee Rd., Clarkston, MI 48348.  Interment followed in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, MI. HAYNES, DORIS, OPHELIA, CANNON, departed this life for her heavenly home on August 8, 2015. She was born May 15, 1914, to Lavator and Ella Cannon who preceded her in death, along with several brothers and sisters; her husband, Paul; son, Wayne; two grandsons, Edwin and Randy Hayes.

She is survived by her sons, Paul (Virginia) and Bobby both of Tracy City, Charlie (Helen) of Poteau, Oklahoma; daughters, Martha of Pelham and Patricia (Ricky) of Tracy City; 21 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 43 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Betty (Alfred) Layne, Alma (Eule) Steifel and Portia (Burney) McDowell.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Freddie Savage, Brother Ernest Lockhart and Brother Brett Meeks officiating. Burial followed in Plainview Cemetery. THOMAS, JEFF, D., age 70, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Thursday morning at his home. He was born April 21, 1945 to the late Hamp Thomas and Tressie Meeks Thomas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Thomas, AP Thomas and Jack Thomas; grandchild, Destiny.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Thomas (Barbara), Pattie Dempsey (Wesley), Dorothy Thomas (Troy) and Jamey Thomas (Sally); sisters, Opal, Nioka, Loulene, Lee Annie, Janice, Delores, Darlene, Deb, Pammell, Carrie Sue and Joszell; grandchildren, Elisha, Mikie, Jackie, Kelsey, Devon, Ian, Samantha, Gage and Shalynn; great grandchild, Jayden; several nieces and nephews.

DYKES, LEWIS, age 61, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side, he fought a courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Susie Dykes; brothers, Ricky and Ronald; nephew, Chad Dykes.

Survivors include his son, Ragan S. (Crystal) Dykes, New Hope; daughters, Brittani D. (Kyle) Medina, Jasper, TN; Melanie Dawn Dykes, Tracy City, TN; friend, Ada Boyd, Tracy City, TN; niece, Christy Dykes, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Noah Meeks and Elizabeth Dykes.

CREIGHTON, BETTY, ERNESTINE, ROSS, age 87, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Chattanooga, TN, went to be with her Lord June 23, 2015 in a nursing facility in Ardmore, TN after a brief illness.  She was a loving Mother, Grannie, and Grannie-Grannie and will be terribly missed.  She was born on July 3, 1927 to John William Ross and True Sitz Ross of Palmer, TN.  She was Valedictorian of the Class of 1945, at Grundy County High School in Tracy City, TN.  On October 26, 1946 she married Robert M. Creighton of Coalmont, TN and they moved to Chattanooga.  In 1966 they moved to Huntsville, AL with their children.  Ernestine attended Huntsville Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, of 57 years, parents Bill and True Ross, a brother, Kenneth R. Ross and two infant brothers Billy H. Ross and Jimmie D. Ross; paternal grandparents Cleveland Ross and Cora Ross Smith; maternal grandparents Frank and Maggie Nunley Sitz all of Palmer and Gruetli Laager, TN, her son-in-law Gary R. Smith of Soddy Daisy, TN, and brother-in-law Sam Creighton of Coalmont, TN.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan C. Smith of Soddy Daisy, TN; sons, Robert R. (Lorie) Creighton and William S. Creighton of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren Amy M. (Raun) Alley of Soddy Daisy, TN, Stacey C. (Jamey) Lonas and Robert B. Creighton of Huntsville, AL, one great-grandson Randall Evan Alley of Soddy Daisy, TN, Aunt Henri Marie Schaeffer of Moss Point, MS and nephew, nieces and cousins. There was no visitation at the funeral home.  A graveside service was held Friday June 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coalmont, TN Cemetery with Brother Ray Winton officiating and assisted by Brother Clayton Jones.  Members of the family were invited to S.A.M.S. Corner after the service for a meal and time to reflect on the life of a lady who was loved and will be missed by many.

 

WEAVER, MARTIN, DALE, age 57, of the Cagle Community passed away at his home Monday August 10, 2015.  He was retired from the US Navy after 30 years of service. He was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee on November 4, 1957.  He was preceded in death by his father, William Bedford Weaver and his wife, Shirley Darlene Estes Weaver. He is survived by his daughter, Megan L. Weaver; mother, Amy Lou Brewer Weaver; sister, Linda Weaver Jones; brothers, Wilson (Renee) and Andy (Roslyn) Weaver. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, John Potts and Riley Anderson officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
