DYKES, STANLEY, FRANKLIN, “BOWZER,” age 82, of Parmley Hollow near Tracy City, TN, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 27, 2014. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had served during the Korean War. Born in Tracy City, he was a son of the late Clinton and Nancy O’Neal Dykes and was preceded in death by his brothers, Carmon, Gordon, Grady and John Dykes. “Bowzer” was a member of Plainview Community Church and had worked for Hoback Construction for over 25 years and was a well-known and skilled concrete former and finisher.

Survivors include his niece whom he called his daughter, Rhonda Dykes; brother, Carl Dykes; sisters, Marie McDaniel and Eula Mae Dykes; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 29 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mike Rigsby and Claude Hoback officiating.

Burial was in Orange Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.

FERRELL, STEVEN, JOE, 57, died Sunday, May 25, 2014. He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee and served in the US Marines. He was employed by Americare Services and was preceded in death by his parents, William Ferrell and Betty Joann Veal Hayes; son, Jake King; and a sister, Treva Ferrell.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Hobbs Ferrell; daughter, Kylee Ferrell; sister, Sherry Williamson; brothers, Clyde and Tommy Ferrell, Johnny Hayes; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, May 30, at the Little Johnny Myers Cemetery on Gap Road in Altamont with Minister Coy King officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to help with funeral expenses.

GILLIAM, JIMMY, age 67, of Pelham, Tennessee passed from this life on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at his home. He was born March 21, 1947 in Franklin County, the son of the late Robert and Clarcie Mae Meeks Gilliam.  He was a member of Roarks Cove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Ann and sisters, Lucille, Nurvie and Della; sons, Jimmy Gilliam, Jr. of Hillsboro, TN and Timmy Gilliam of Pelham, TN; daughter, Sue Ann (Max) Owens of Arkansas; grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy; great granddaughter, Krystal; brothers, Harold, Ronnie, Robert, David, and Bill; sisters, Unis, Dede Mae and Stella; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Roarks Cove Baptist Church with Rev. David McGee officiating.

Interment was in Hill Cemetery, Alto, TN.

GRIMM, MARY, ELIZABETH, age 50, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed from this life on Friday, May 30, 2014, at Saint Thomas Hospital, Murfreesboro. She was born January 9, 1964 in Chattanooga, the daughter of the late Frank Edward and Mary Ann (McElderry) Frye. She was the owner/operator of Amazon Detail in Winchester.

She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Frye and his wife Katherine.

Surviving are husband of 25 years, Richard Grimm; sons, Mike Grimm of Winchester, TN and Richard Grimm of Virginia; daughter, Samantha Grimm of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Michael Frye of San Diego, CA; mother, Mary Ann Lawhorn and her husband Willie; and aunt, Cathy Shelton of Hot Springs, AR.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 3 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Alan Roggli officiating.
