CAGLE, JAMES, LARRY, (JIM), of Las Cruces New Mexico (formally of Tracy City, TN) has joined the heavenly gates after losing his battle to cancer with his loving companion Lissa Gardner and sister Judy by his side on May 29, 2014. Jim was born in Manchester, TN on September 28, 1948. He went to high school in Fort Knox, Kentucky and graduated top of his class in 1967. In 1968 he was drafted into the Army and was voted Best Non-Commissioned Officer of the training cycle by the Brigade Staff.
Jim served in Vietnam with Co B 1st BN 327 Infantry of the 101 Airborne Divisions. While serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star, and the Air Medal with two clusters. He was discharged as Staff Sergeant E-6 in 1970.
Jim owned and operated Things for Sale, an Antique Store in Las Cruces New Mexico for 25 years. He loved playing golf with his friend Colonel Robert Highsmith.
He was preceded in death by his father James Cagle; mother Gladys Marie (Smith) Thomas; brothers Steven Lee, Jerry Albert, Michael Douglas Cagle, and nephew John Douglas Cramer.
He is survived by his two sisters, Barbara Cagle of Tracy City, TN and Judy (Russell) Comer of Las Cruces, New Mexico; his aunt Shirley Brookman of Stockbridge, Georgia; and his uncle Paul W. Smith of Denison, TX; several nieces and a nephew; great nieces and a great nephew; also several cousins.
Services were held on Thursday, June 5 with Military Honors at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso TX.
Arrangements were made by La Paz – Graham’s Funeral Home, Las Cruces, New Mexico.
MORGAN, BETTY, JEAN, “MARY LOU,” age 79, of Tracy City, TN, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center’s Skilled Care in Winchester, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mandy O’Neal Green; son, Craig Morgan; brother, Kenneth Green; sister, Annie Shrum.
Survivors include her loving husband Franklin Morgan of Tracy City, TN; sons, Rob Morgan (Joyce) of Murfreesboro, TN and Tim Morgan (Sue) of Tracy City, TN; daughter-in-law Allison Morgan; brothers, Billy Green and Ronald Green; sisters, Faye Pistol, Freda Lowry, Barbara Myers, and Christine Parsons; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 10 at Burns Cemetery with Ben Curtis officiating.
