CALDWELL, LILLIE, MAE, age 88, of Coalmont, passed away April 22, 2015 at the home of her son in Manchester with her family near.  She was a member of First Baptist Church at Gruetli-Laager and operated Caldwell’s Service Station in Coalmont.  She was preceded in death at a young age by her husband and Carolyn’s father, Robert Eugene “Bobby” Sweeton and later married Ronald’s father William Howard “Soll” Caldwell who also preceded her in death along with her parents, John William and Maggie Sweeton Sanders, brothers, Willie Carl and James E. “Sham” Sanders. She is survived by her son and his wife, Ronald B. and Jan Caldwell of Manchester; daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Norman “June Bug” Meeks; brother, Suel Sanders; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Cary Gomer and Bob Ruehling officiating. Burial followed in the Coalmont Cemetery. Arrangements were made at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

 

RUDD, CHRISTINE, age 73, of Fayetteville, TN passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Donalson Care Center. She was born in Grundy County, TN on March 4, 1942 to the late Cam & Kathaline Guthrie Meeks. Mrs. Rudd was the owner of C & M Market and was a member of the Holiness Church of God. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Marshall Rudd; sister, Rachel Parson and brother, Delbert Meeks.

Mrs. Rudd is survived by her sons, Christopher & Marla Rudd of Fayetteville, TN and Luke Rudd of Knoxville, TN; sister, Ruth Endsley of Petersburg, TN and Bett Adcock of Orange Beach, FL, and brother, Dennis Meeks of Tracy City, TN.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 26, 2015 in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home, Fayetteville, TN.

 

GILLIAM, ALMA, CHRISTINE, WILLIAMS, age 81, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on April 25, 2015 at the Bailey Manor in Manchester. She was a dedicated homemaker and a member of the Manchester Church of God. She was born in Rocky River, TN to her parents, the late Walter Alexander Williams and Lucy Elizabeth Meeks Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Edward “Bud” Gilliam in 2006; brothers, Herbert, Jess, Estel, Charles, J.W. and Harold Williams; and sisters, Marie Boyd, Pauline Harris and Billie Lockhart.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Blessing and her husband Stephen of Manchester, TN; son, Randall Gilliam and his wife Cindy of Manchester, TN; three grandchildren, Benjamin Blessing, Abbie and Lauren Gilliam all of Manchester, TN; sisters-in-law, Faye Williams of Tracy City, TN, Alberta “Bertie” Maqourik of Pelham, TN and Margie Bains Gilliam; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Ruth Bains Gilliam of Greenville, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service was conducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Central Funeral Home with Pastor David Petty officiating. Burial followed at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Central Funeral Home, Manchester, TN.

 

LAYNE, PATRICIA, CAROLE, MARTIN, age 72, of Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee, passed away at her home Monday April 27, 2015.  She was a Cook at the L & L Market until her health declined. She was born in Kingston, NY on May 5, 1942 to James Burton and Katherine Sheeley Vangaasbeck who preceded her in death along with her husband, James Phillip Martin. She is survived by her husband, Ricky Layne; sons, James Jr. and Jay Martin; daughters, Deborah Greene, Laura Pasquini, Colleen Glassman, Tricia Martin and Jackie Martin; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; special grandchildren, Stephanie Adams and Steven Shattuck. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minster Danny Coffelt officiating. Burial followed in the Swiss Colony Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

 

DODD, RUTH, M., age 75, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at River Park Hospital, in McMinnville, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Allie Meeks; brothers, John K. Meeks, Jr., Dick Meeks; sisters, Elsie Mae Mashburn.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey Dodd, McMinnville, TN; sons, Charles (Judy) Snider, Monteagle; Pernell (Tina) Snider, McMinnville, TN; Terry Dodd, McMinnville, TN; daughters, Charlotte (Sissy) Dodd and Karen Dodd; a special niece Sheila Nunley Sheild; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 30, 2015 in Foster & Lay Chapel with Jamie English officiating and burial will follow in the Clouse Hill Cemetery.
