SMITH, WILLIAM, DEE, “BUSTER”, age 68, of Monteagle, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2015, at his home. Buster was an U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was retired from the Grundy County Housing Authority.

Buster is preceded in death by his parents, William Douglas and Beatrice Smith; sons, Steven and Christopher Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Lola Smith; daughter, Vanessa Sanders; grandchildren, Takoda Hill, Sierra hill, Cheyenne Hill and Cody Sanders; great-grandchild, Kimberly Sanders; sisters, Kathy Bouldin of Tracy City and Linda Culpepper of Sewanee.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Cumberland Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Allen Griffith officiating. Internment followed in the Monteagle Cemetery. GIBSON, ANN, NEWMAN, age 86, of Tracy City, TN, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015. The daughter of the late Martin and Maude Newman, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended the House of Prayer in Tracy City.  She dearly loved her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Gibson; sister, Wade Bible; brother, Paul Newman; and son, Robert Lee “Wort” Gibson.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Rick) Yarworth of Tracy City, TN; sisters, Betty Sims of Jasper, TN, Catherine Miller and Peggy Grimes both of Whiteside, TN; sister-in-law, Katherine Newman of Sequatchie, TN; grandchildren, Christy & Bobby Jones of Whitwell, TN, Ginger and Gerrett Cook of Cocoa Beach, FL, Denise & David Yarbrough of Chattanooga, TN and Robert & Miranda Gibson of Trenton, GA; great-grandchildren, Blake & Whitney Morrison of Tracy City, Alex Morrison, Trey & Luke Nunley of Whitwell, Abbi, Emaleigh and Ronan Cook of Cocoa Beach, FL, Zack & Preston Frashier of Chattanooga, TN and Delorus Gibson of Trenton, GA.

Funeral services were conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper, TN.  Interment followed at Orange Hill Cemetery in Tracy City, TN. HARRISON, CLARENCE, E., age 81, of Sewanee, passed away Saturday morning. Funeral was held Tuesday in the funeral chapel with Brother Mickey Henley officiating. LANDON, CLARA, AUGUSTA, age 94, of Gruetli-Laager, passed away Friday morning at the Sheltering Arms Home in Palmer.  She was a retired school teacher from the Grundy County School System and served as the first Librarian at Palmer. She was of the Baptist faith. She was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on August 21, 1920 to Samuel Bone and Lillian Mooney Born who preceded her in death along with her husband, George Edward Landon, Sr.; son, George Edward Landon, Jr.; brothers, Victor, Claude, Ernest, Luther, Lonnie and Wesley Bone; sisters, Etta Mae Bone Landon, Josephine Bone Patterson, Alice Bone Warren, Ruby Bone Rust, Edith Bone McDaniel, Jennie Lee Bone and one infant sibling. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Rose Landon Lovelace, Monteagle; sister, Sue Hargis, Powder Springs, GA; brothers, Clyde Bone, Smithville, TN, Sam Bone, Huntland, TN and Paul Bone, Michigan; grandchildren, Rickey E. (Susan) Landon, James C. Landon, Tim Landon, L. Heath (Jo) Lovelace, Sherry K. Partin, Chanda D. (Eddie) Courtney; great grandchildren, Amber, Wade, Ben, Melena, Ashley, Jayla, Xack, Landon, Shelby, Lemmy and Lyric; great great grandchildren, Cula Brianna; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in the Coalmont Cemetery officiated by Bro. Ben Curtis. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.


HINDMAN, MARJORIE, JEAN, STOCKWELL, PAYNE, age 87, of Palmer, passed away, March 14, 2015 at a Florence, Alabama nursing facility.  She was a resident of Killen, AL, and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church Muscle Shoals, AL.  She was born in Sewanee, Tennessee on May 24, 1927 to John Willard Stockwell and Minnie Gertrude McGovern who preceded her in death along with her son, Larry Douglas Payne; husband and father of her children, J.L. Payne and after his death she married Joseph B. Hindman who also preceded her; sisters, Pearl Savage and Virginia Dillon; brothers, Clarence, John Jr., Howard and Byron Stockwell; 2 infant brothers. She is survived by her son, Chester (Joyce) Payne, Muscle Shoals, AL; daughter, Peggy Joyce (Late Earl) Jones, Florence, AL; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Bobby Payne officiating. Burial followed in the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.


HALL, RAY, EDWARD, age 59, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at his home. He was employed at U.T.C. Ray was born in Nashville, Tennessee, a son of the late Harvey Ray Hall, Jr. and Lucille Kilgore Hall.

Survivors include his brother, Bob (Kristin) Hall, Orlando, FL; sister, Lee Hall Reece (Jim) of Chattanooga; nephews, Brendan and Austin Hall.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Oak Grove Independent Church in Tracy City with Reverend Barry Nolan officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
