FULTS, RAY, JACKSON, 74, departed this life at his home Friday, February 14, 2014. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on June 19, 1939 to Lawrence and Emma McHone Fults who preceded him in death along with his brothers, William James, Lanny and Billy Gene Fults; sister, Patsy Stringer. He is survived by his wife, Joy Fults; sons, Micheal (Tammy) Fults and Jacky Ray (Cristie) Fults, all of Gruetli-Laager, TN; daughters, Susan Showalter, Winchester, KY, Teresa Sullivan, Gruetli-Laager, Tammy Miller, Tracy City; step-daughter, Leann (Paul) Brown, Gruetli-Laager; sisters, Rebecca Bradford and Edie Pursley of Ohio; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, February 17 in the funeral home chapel with Minister Willard Griffin officiating. Burial was in Swiss Colony Cemetery.  Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

PATTERSON, RAY, age 61, of Pelham, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at his home with his family by his side. He was a son of the late Alton and Martha Patterson and was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Henley; an infant brother, Ricky, and son-in-law Frank Knost. He was employed at Rich’s in Murfreesboro and attended Valley Home United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Brown Patterson; children, Shellie (Justin) Kilgore, Pelham; Candy (Chad) Hill, Rutledge Hill; 2 grandchildren, Gregory and Rachel Knost; brothers, Carl Patterson, Murfreesboro and David Patterson, McMinnville; sister, Kay Alhart, Rutledge Hill; father-in-law, Grant Brown, Pelham; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 13 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Troy Smith officiating. Burial was in Warren Cemetery. HANKINS, JOHN, W., age 87, of Decherd, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Life Care Center in Tullahoma. He was a native of Sewanee, a son of the late Horace B. and Katie Fay Anderson Hankins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; two brothers, Horace, Jr. and Richard; grandson, Jason Lappin. He was retired from American General Life Insurance Company after a long career of loyal service. He was a member of the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church, was an avid sports fan, rarely missing a game that his children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren played. He loved the Tennessee Vols, especially Lady Vols Basketball. He was a proud American, serving his country in World War II in the Army and was a 60 year member of the American Legion. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Galon) Sherrill, Decherd, and Jan Lappin; grandchildren, Beth Burton, Allison (Jason) Fraker, Matt Lappin, Clay Sherrill, and Becca Yates; great grandchildren, Christopher Harper, Aleigh Sherrill, Cullie Anne Fraker, Aydan Yates, Reagan Sherrill, Ava Rose Yates; great-great granddaughter, Zoey Harper; sister-in-law, Prue Hankins; nieces, Jenny Kiser, Amy Urbaniaki, and Connie Boatman. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 18 in the funeral home chapel with Minister Michael Clark officiating. Burial was in Eastern Star Cemetery with full military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Veteran’s Honor Guard. HATFIELD, PERRY, SHELTON, age 66, of Coalmont, Tennessee passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, in Alvin York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a native of Fentress County, TN, a son of the late Curt and Ida Hatfield and was preceded in death by his sisters, Floy Hatfield, Hazel Lawson, Alva Jean Flowers; brothers, Jerry and Joe Hatfield; son, Bradley Geary; grandson, Charles Geary. He was retired from the textile industry and was a Vietnam, U.S. Army veteran and a member of Black Horse 11th Armored Calvary, Troop L and a member of the V.F.W. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Emily Hatfield; sons, Barton Hatfield, Gainesville, FL; Perry Martin Hatfield, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Michael Hatfield, St. Louis, MO; James B. Hatfield, San Diego, CA; Randy Geary, Nashville; Ralph Geary, McMinnville; and Kevin Geary of Coalmont; sisters, Oma Jean Rogers, Dayton, Ohio and Betty Grogg, Rydal, GA; brother, Manson Hatfield, Pall Mall, TN; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27 in the Foster and Lay Chapel with Reverend Mike Rigsby officiating. Military honors will be provided by Sequatchie Valley Veteran’s Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fisher House located at the campus of the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN. The Fisher House offers shelter and support during a medical crisis for members of the Armed Forces, retirees, veterans and their families.
