HOBBS, BRYAN, age 36, of Altamont, passed away Tuesday February 17, 2015. He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee July 31, 1978. He attended the Little Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lillie Rain Hobbs; sister, Gail Winton. He is survived by his mother, Oma Lee Hobbs; son, Dylan Brian Hobbs; daughter, Haley Marie Brown; brothers, Jerry Hobbs and Gary (Vicki) Hobbs; sisters, Sheila and Patsy Hobbs; several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday at the Little Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Dal Barrett officiating. Burial followed in the Little Johnny Myers Cemetery. MORRISON, DANNY, RAY, “MUZZY”, age 52, of Palmer, passed away Wednesday February 18, 2015 at a Chattanooga Hospital. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee November 14, 1962 to Ben Morrison Jr. and Jessie Lee Tate Morrison who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Lannie David Morrison, Billy Clark Morrison and Jimmy Bob Morrison Sr.; infant sister Debbie Marie Morrison. He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Morrison; step-daughter, Terra (Chad) Levan; brothers, Jack (Joyce) and Jeff (Kyra) Morrison; sisters, Judy (Dennis) Kelley, Betty (Charles) Floyd, Susan Diane Layne, Laura Ellen Wilson and Carol (Bobby) Stewart; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Brett Meeks and Ronnie Partin officiating. Burial followed in the Palmer Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
MORROW, BETTY, CARRICK, age 72 of Jacksonville Florida died February 6th, 2015. Arrangements were made by National Cremation Society, Jacksonville, FL.
DISHROON, BENNY, HAYES, age 84, of Huntsville, Alabama passed into Glory on Thursday, February 19, 2015. He was born to Ernest and Hazel Dishroon on September 8, 1930, in Palmer, Tennessee. He graduated from Grundy County High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
He was married to Nancy Jane Manley Dishroon on August 16, 1958, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He retired from Army Civil Service in 1987 and from CAS in 1993. He loved his family and his God and was very loyal to both. He was a longtime member of All Nations Church, formerly Hillsboro Heights Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and longtime Chairman of the Properties Committee, among many other positions.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Manley Dishroon, of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by his four daughters and their husbands, Sarah (Cindy) and Kenny Adams of Huntsville, Amy and Mat McDonald of Huntsville, Susan and Stephen Marenka of Madison and Sharon and Hugh Callahan of Huntsville. He is survived by his grandchildren, Brian Adams of Ridgecrest, California, Greg Adams and his wife, Anna, Genna McDonald, John Adams, Mitchell McDonald, Grace Marenka, Jackson Bulman, Michael Marenka and Sam Bulman, all of the Huntsville and Madison area. He also has two step-granddaughters, Kristen Callahan and Katie Callahan, both of California. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Preston and Jimmie Lee Disheroon of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Betty Whitlow of Cagle, Tennessee, Alpha Cleek of Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee, Roger and Linda Dishroon of Starkville, Mississippi, Sylvia Roberts of Ringgold, Georgia, and EJ and Anne Dishroon of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He also had numerous other family members, including in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that he cherished deeply.
Services were held Sunday at All Nations Church with Dr. Larry Inman and Reverend Grady Dishroon officiating. Burial followed at Hampton Cove Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to All Nations Church. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family. Arrangements were made by Berryhill Funeral Home, Huntsville, AL.
SWEETON, JAMES, KELVIN, age 59, of McMinnville, passed away Saturday February 21, 2015 at River Park Hospital ER in McMinnville. He was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on November 17, 1955 to James Sweeton and Essie Jean Henderson who preceded her in death along with his brother, Sammy Byers; wife, Carolyn Sweeton. He is survived by his sisters, Paula (Brook) Johnson, Manchester, TN, Lana Givens, Lebanon, TN and Johnnie Kay Ellis, Chatsworth, GA; step- sons, Richard (Crystal) Rhea, Micky and Jeremy Rhea, McMinnville; 8 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Sister Vickie Henderson officiating. Burial followed in the Hill’s Creek Cemetery at Irving College. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
PIRTLE, JAMES, AUGUST, “JIMMY”, age 85, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He worked several jobs, he hauled coal and worked with his father doing carpenter work, but the job he liked most was at Sequachee Valley Electric Co-op where he worked for 59 years. He had a heart attack and had to retire in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Malinda Pirtle; brothers, Frank Eugene, Henry, Bill Edd and John Clayton Pirtle; sisters, Thelma Randles and Lorraine Tyner.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Margaret Frances Lewis Pirtle; daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Baker; sons, Keith (Leisa) Pirtle and Eric Pirtle; sister, Edna Alderson; brothers, Kenneth, Raymond and Eugene Pirtle; grandchildren, Keri, Todd, Ashlea and Taylor; great-granddaughter, Kali.
