JONES, CONNIE, 66, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Vanderbilt Hospital. She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on June 29, 1947 to William F. and Jean James Keel who preceded her in death along with her twin brother, Ronnie and brother Robert Keel. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, L.J. Jones; daughters, Kathy (Rick) Anderson and Melissa (Robert) Scissom; brother, Owen (Sammy) Keel; sisters, Gail (Steve) Barker and Kathy Scott; grandchildren, Brandon, Blake, Brittany, Katie and Cheyenne; 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, November 8 in the funeral home chapel with Ministers John Potts and Mike Rigsby officiating. Burial was in Palmer Cemetery.  Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

ROBERTS, LEWIS, G, JR., 68, of Tracy City, TN, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, TN. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Altamont and had worked in logging, nursery and with dairy cattle. He was born in Gross’s Cove in Grundy County to Lewis G. Roberts, Sr. and Tennie Bouldin Roberts who preceded him in death along with his daughter, Kathy Darlene Smith; sister, Lena Mae Roberts; grandsons, Caleb Smith and Bryan Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Sue Brymer Roberts; son, Charles Gordon (Sandra) Roberts of Lewisburg, TN; daughter, Kimberly Michelle Arnold, Tullahoma, TN; sisters, Mary Betty June Roberts and Patricia (Gerald) Austin, both of McMinnville, TN; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 9 with Ministers Joe D. Gray and Ray Winton officiating. Burial was in Altamont Cemetery.  Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, TN.

COX, EDDIE, JUNIOR, “DICKIE,” 56, of Gruetli-Laager, TN, died at his home Saturday, November 9, 2013 with his family close by. He was a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard. He was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on September 25, 1957 and was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Sue Morrison Cox; grandparents, Lonnie and Turessa Ethel Morrison, James Herbert and Edith Mae Box Cox; brother, Charles “Docky” Edward Cox. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathy Borne Cox (August 4, 1973); daughters, Susan Renee’ (Hussien) Al-Hussieni, Heather Dawn (Jason) Cain, Abbie Darlene (Juan) Lopez, Jennifer-Lynn Hope (Francisco) Colin; sons, John Eddie Shawn (Kelly Johnson) and Lonnie Michael Shane Cox; father, John Edward Cox; sisters, Dreama “Sissy” (Randell) Spears and Brenda (Banny) Davis; grandchildren, Zachary (Summer) Harrell, Hunter Floyd, Courtnee, Deanna and Tyler Sells, Jacob, Johnathan and Jayden Cox, William Nunley, Lilly Byrd, Alyssa-Lynn Hope Frazier; step grandchildren, Malak and Bashaar and Justin; loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 12 in the funeral home chapel with Minister Raymond Borne officiating. Burial was in Swiss Colony Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.  Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

LADD, BETTY, LOUISE, age 81, of Monteagle, TN, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, John Henry Ladd; son, James “Duper” Ladd; brother, Billy Garner. Betty and John Henry were well known for their restaurants and food catering businesses in Monteagle and Palatka, FL. She is survived by her children, Adele Ladd, Monteagle, Willie (JoAnna) Ladd, Monteagle; sister, Willma Fay Williams, Tracy City; grandchildren, Chasity Beth Wolfe, GA, Tara (Bryan) Curtis, Monteagle, Jessica (Trey) Cook, Monteagle; great grandchildren, Dalton, Hayle, Peyton and Drew Anna. Funeral services were held November 7 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeremy Taylor officiating. Burial was in Monteagle Cemetery.  Arrangements were made by Cumberland Funeral Home, Monteagle, TN.

HILL, SUSAN, PAULINE, 95, of Beersheba Springs, TN, passed away November 9, 2013 at Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, TN. She was born January 11, 1918 and was a retired teacher from Beersheba Springs Elementary. She was a member of D.A.R., Grundy County Retired Teachers Association, and attended Beersheba Springs Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by parents, Benjamin J. and Minnie Belle Clendenen Hill; brothers and sisters, Carrie Lee Willis, Marjorie Petersen, J.B. Hill, Richard Hill, Wayman Hill, Marshal Hill, B.B. Hill, Mabel Tate, Morgan Hill, Marcus Hill, Rhonnel and Raymond Hill. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services were held November 10 at High Funeral Home Chapel with Don Hill and Sam Stansbury officiating. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Cemetery or Beersheba Springs Church of Christ.  Arrangements were made by High Funeral Home, McMinnville, TN.

NUNLEY, FREDDY, ALLEN, age 66, of Tracy City, TN, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Emerald Hodgson Skilled Care. He was retired form TDOT where he worked as an inspector. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tessa Nunley; brothers, Lewis “Pap” Nunley, Joe Nunley, Teddy Ray Sanders, Alton Sanders, Eddy Lee Sanders; sisters, Helen Byers and Waymona Ware. Survivors include his wife, Judy E. Nunley, Tracy City; children, Danny Dinkens, Tracy City, Bobby Harris, Nashville, Sheila Armstrong, Jackson, Mississippi; Jamie Nunley and Jody Nunley, both of Tracy City; brothers, Paul Nunley, Ralph Sanders, Joe Sanders; sisters, Linda Nunley and Doris Layne; 6 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held October 8 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ralph Shrum and Reverend Mike Rigsby officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery.
