KILGORE, CLARENCE, EDWARD, JR., age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Sewanee, TN.

Mr. Kilgore was a retired educator with Grundy County High School and a retired U.S. Postal Service employee.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo Kilgore; sisters, Catherine Flury and Emma Ruth (Morris) Kilgore Roberts, both of Tracy City; brother, David S. (Judy) Kilgore, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Clarence E. and Theona A. Kilgore; sister, Evelyn Cunningham; George Kilgore; and three nephews. The funeral was held Saturday, January 9 with Ministers Paul Tittle and Creig Kimbro of Monteagle Church of Christ officiating.

Clarence enjoyed his outdoor activities, hunting and fishing. He was out of the house more than once a week before dawn in the woods or on the lake with friends. His friends say that even in his older years he could out walk them. He was active in the Fiery Gizzard Sportsman’s Club, who took on responsibility for cleaning local streams and otherwise caring for the local natural beauty of the mountaintop. Clarence was also active politically, communicating regularly with our government representatives, many of whom he knew personally.

Clarence was much loved by his family and friends and greatly respected by family, friends, and people of Tracy City and surrounding communities. He was a generous and loving man and a faithful member of his church and a follower of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be lovingly remembered.

LAYNE, NOVELLA, of Pelham passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at her residence at the age of 65. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Warren/Red Hill Cemetery in Pelham.  Visitation with the family will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5 PM – 8 PM.

A native of Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Elsie Magouirk Layne.  She enjoyed elderly people and would sit with them for hours. She enjoyed working in the yard and flower gardening.  She like to listen to country music and work word search puzzles.  She also enjoyed watching scary movies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde and George Layne and James Tucker.

Novella is survived by one daughter, Clara Nunn and her husband, Leon Nunn Jr. of Manchester; two brothers, Kelly Layne of Gruetli-Laager, and Wilson “Junior” Tucker Jr. of Pelham; three sisters, Lucy Hill and her husband Billy of Pelham, Anna McCord and her husband, Bob of Donelson and Mattie Murray and her husband, David of Pelham; three grandchildren, Darlena Scalf, Penny Scalf and Brittany Nunn and four great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

WIDEMAN, JAMES, HOWARD, “JIMMY”, age 38, of Palmer, passed away Sunday January 11, 2015 in a Chattanooga Hospital.  He was born in Harvey, IL on May 4, 1976.  He attended Grundy County High School.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Stella Wideman, Josephine Brown. He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Carol Wideman; grandfather, Homer Brown, Markham, IL; brothers, Richie (Tammy), Kirby and Joey Wideman; loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the funeral home chapel and burial followed in the Wideman Cemetery.

FULTS, MELISSA, ANN, age 48, of Altamont, passed away Sunday January 11, 2015 at her home.  She was employed by Exceptional Enterprises.  She was born in South Pittsburg, TN on September 27, 1966. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Fred Fults Sr.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bartley Layne, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Yarworth.  She is survived by her husband, Fred Fults Jr.; daughter, Amanda Marie Floyd and her friend Shaun Smith; mother, Patricia Myers; father, Denver (Brenda) Yarworth; mother-in-law, Lillie Carolyn Fults; brother, Jeff Yarworth; step-brother, Lee (Andrea) West; sisters, Tammy (Russell) Killian, Michelle Scissom, Krystal Bean, Penny (Timmy) Curtis and Tina (Haskel) Scissom; several loving nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Joe Gray and Philip Fults officiating. Burial followed in the Fults Cemetery.

SEAGROVES, TAMMY, M., age 43, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Services, Sewanee, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her son, Justin Meeks; father, Cecil Seagroves; and sister, Brenda Coppinger.

Survivors include her mother, Gladys Seagroves, Tracy City, Tennessee; son, Josh A Meeks, Coalmont, Tennessee; daughter, Jerrica Meeks, Jasper, Tennessee; brothers, Rickey, Randy, Roger Seagroves all of Tracy City, Tennessee; sisters, Roxanna Fults, Tracy City, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Waymon Coppinger; grandchildren, Kennadie, Felisity, and Damion; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mike Rigsby and Brother Claude Hoback officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery. On line condolences can be made at www.fosterlayfuneralhome.net.

FINCH, SHEILA, REGINA, age 66, of Coalmont, passed away at her home Tuesday January 6, 2015.  She was born in Palmer, Tennessee to Allen and Lorene Holt Akins who preceded her in death along with her brother, Billy Holt; son, Jeffery Finch. She is survived by her daughters, Regina (Dwight) Hood and Toshia (Tommy) Yates; brother, Ronnie (Jewell) Akins; sisters, Deanna Shadrick and Margaret Roberts; step-son, Bobby White; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at the Gruetli Church of God for a service of Remembrance officiated by Pastor Willard Griffin Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM. with private burial in the Palmer Cemetery.

CURTIS, JERRY, age 88, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away January 12, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Mr. Curtis was a faithful member of the Tracy City First Baptist Church where he has served as a deacon, trustee, song leader, and Sunday school teacher. He is a lifetime member of the American Legion and served as a Commander twice. Jerry was U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Mattie Curtis, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Curtis, Tracy City, Tennessee; son, Wayne (Eddie Marie) Curtis; brothers, Herschel Curtis, Alton “Baldy” (Karen) Curtis; sister, Maggie Nolan; grandchildren, Ben (Mandy) Curtis and Dustin (April) Curtis; great grandchildren, Caitlin, Ethan, Lydia, and Emmaline; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ben Curtis officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery with military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. On line condolences can be made at www.fosterlayfuneralhome.net.
