The North Lady Warriors and the Swiss Wildcats won their semifinal games over the weekend in the TNT State Tournament in Springfield. The Wildcats play Friday in the semifinals at 4 p.m., while the Lady Warriors are playing on Saturday at 12 p.m., for the championship. A Swiss win Friday night would put them in the title game Saturday as well.
North 48 – Pickett County 46
The Lady Warriors had to fight the entire game to scratch out this win. North trailed by 2 after one but led by one at the half. Giving up a 14-7 third quarter put them in a six-point hole going into the final quarter. North rallied for a 17-9 fourth quarter and the two-point win.
Taylor Meeks led North with 20 points including a three pointer from half court at the end of the second quarter. McKenzie Broadway followed with 14 points. Emma Seagroves, Leah Hiett and Kiera Hobbs notched 4 points each. MaKayla Kirby added 2 points.
Swiss 51 – Savannah Christian 44
The Wildcats trailed by four after one and 31-26 at the half. They turned up the heat in the second half carving four points off the lead by the end of the third and using an 11-5 fourth quarter to advance to the semifinals.
Nathan Coffelt and Evan Nunley led Swiss with 17 points each. Chris Nance tossed in 9 with a three. Braden Sanders added 6 points.
