Rev. Allyn Maxfield-Steele

Rev. Allyn Maxfield-Steele, Co-Executive Director of Highlander Research and Education Center, addressed the semiannual meeting of the Grundy County Historical Society on Jan. 19 at Dutch Maid Bakery in Tracy City. Maxfield-Steele spoke of the spiritual and religious aspects of Highlander’s history, both as the Highlander Folk School in Grundy County and afterward in its current form.

“The story of Myles Horton and the Highlander Folk School is an important part of Grundy County’s history, so we were pleased that Rev. Maxfield-Steele would share his experiences with us. His talk was interesting and enlightening,” said Oliver W. Jervis, president of the historical society.
