The National Bass Fishing Trail held their national championship this past week on Chickamauga Lake out of Dayton. Tennessee district members Kyle Palmer (l) and Brent Sain (r) won National Angler of the Year honors for the organization. Palmer is a member of the GCHS Bass Team and finished second in the tournament but top in points for the Academy Sports + Outdoors Junior Angler of the Year honors. Palmer is from Estill Springs and is the son of Freddy Palmer and Trudy Tyler. Sain won the point’s race on the adult side finishing fourth in the tournament. It is the second time the Manchester native has been National Angler of the Year for NBT.
