Betty Cyr, of Tracy City, was one of 24 veterans on the September 17 Honor Flight of Middle Tennessee. The group left Manchester, in the wee hours of Tuesday morning with a police and motorcycle escort. Arriving at the Nashville airport, they were greeted by patriots waving American flags.
The group traveled to Washington DC and received standing ovations. They were met with handshakes and thanks at every stop.
The tour included the World War II, Korea, and Vietnam memorials. The group enjoy seeing the changing of the guard at Arlington Cemetery and were treated to supper at Fort Myer.
Betty is a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War. Accompanying her was volunteer guardian Patricia Street.
