Carolyn Sartain, a math teacher for seventh and eighth grades at Monteagle Elementary School, received the top honor of being chosen as the school’s 2019 Teacher of the Year. Carolyn has taught for 26 years and has been teaching math for many years at MES. She also has experience at several surrounding schools including Tracy City Elementary School, Grundy County High School, and Pelham Elementary School.
Carolyn goes above and beyond each day for her students in unseen ways. She arrives early for morning tutoring to assist students before school and often meets with former students to help them with their high school math. She was instrumental in spearheading a new attendance campaign at MES called “Attendance Matters” and has even provided personal funds to make sure students are rewarded for their attendance efforts. Carolyn serves on the Leadership Team, Attendance Review Board, and is a fantastic leader/presenter of many parent workshops and staff development sessions.
Carolyn will represent MES at the district-level Teacher of the Year selection process.
