On February 3, Grundy County Mayor Michael Brady attended the State of The State Address in Nashville. At the address, Governor Bill Lee revealed his budget and plans for the upcoming year.
Included in the 2020 budget is a four percent pay increase for teachers in the BEP formula and $100 million to be distributed statewide for com-munity projects.
“I would be very interested to know exactly how these funds would be distributed,” noted Mayor Brady.
In addition, the governor noted that he will be adding to the rainy-day fund which is over $1 billion.
Mayor Brady expressed some disappointment at the 2020 outlay of funds.
Grundy County requested and labored for the Stone Door Annex Property development. There was a plan submitted to the Governor’s office. However, that project did not receive funding.” Explained Mayor Brady. “We are disappointed that the Stone Door Project did not get funded, however we will keep the faith and continue to work hard for the betterment of the citizens of Grundy County.”
