March is UT/TSU Extension Month and the Grundy county Extension Office invites all citizens in Grundy County to participate in educational programs and to learn how Extension can benefit them. UT Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is the University of Tennessee at work in your community. UT Extension Staff use research-based education to help Tennesseans gain knowledge and develop confidence in making good decisions today and tomorrow. Their successes in helping consumers improve their well-being result in economic benefits for individuals, families, and communities.
Join the Extension Center to celebrate UT/TSU Extension month this March! Most especially, plan to be at the UT/TSU Extension Open House on Thursday, March 19, at the Extension Office in Coalmont from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. During the open house, you will have an opportunity to meet new staff members, ask questions, gather information, eat, fellowship, and win door prizes.
This week’s featured staff member is Katie M. Kite, UT Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent. Kite moved to Grundy County from Athens Tennessee, in East Tennessee, two years ago to work for the University of Tennessee Extension program as the Family and Consumer Science Agent. Kite truly believes and supports the work at the University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University Extension and is a team player for the rest of the staff members each day. Kite took over the position of Family and Consumer Sciences agent, assuming responsibilities of assisting families financially, nutritionally, educationally, and legally in addition to planning and conducting programs for special interest groups and clubs. In addition, she conducts research, analyzes data, and reports county needs and assessments.
Kite is excited to announce her engagement to Rick Honeycutt. Rick and Katie met on a work-related tour, Leadership Grundy Economic Development, where Katie is an advisor over the adult leadership program and Rick, the Quality Manager at TOYO Seat USA, administered the tour through the plant. They will be tying the knot this June in a summer wedding.
Kite is very family oriented, in addition to her soon to be husband and new family, she has four wonderful brothers, one sister-in-law, one sister, a brother-in-law, her amazing mother and father and two beautiful nephews with whom she spends many weekends dining and catching up.
Kite begins each morning with the Serenity Prayer. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking, charity runs, reading, traveling to new places, visiting with close friends, and working on Pinterest projects.
Through the UT/TSU Extension program, Ms. Kite can assist you with “Real – Life – Solutions.” Please make it a point to come by the UT/TSU Extension Office anytime between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to see Katie Kite, Family and Consumer Science Agent, or any of the other staff members there.
