A student at Tracy City Elementary School was discovered to have 93 $100 counterfeit bills in her possession on Tuesday morning, February 4. At the school’s morning assembly, a teacher noticed the girl had money out and after the large bills were found, the police were called in.
Tracy City Police Chief Charlie Wilder and Officer Melanie McCormick responded to the call. The young girl said her brother, a student at Grundy County High School, gave her the bills. Wilder contacted Sheriff Clint Shrum in order to question the high school student.
The Secret Service picked up the fake bills Tuesday afternoon and opened an investigation.
