Les Linton, noted landscape painter in Grundy County, will be conducting a summer painting class “Introduction to Acrylics” from June 17 – July 15 in Altamont, TN. The five- week course will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Cost for the course is $35. The class will be limited to a maximum of twelve students, age 14 and over.

Mr. Linton has been painting subjects in Grundy County full time for over thirty-five years. He moved here permanently in 1988 and has his studio in Flat Branch. “I have always loved this area. I’ve been visiting since the 1950’s, but started finding inspiration for my paintings in the late 70’s.”

“Grundy County has many varied and beautiful areas, so over the years I’ve concentrated primarily on landscapes in watercolor. In recent years, I’ve been working more in acrylics and find it an easy medium to learn. It’s ideal for beginners and provides for much easier changes and corrections than watercolors or oils.”

“I hope local art lovers realize what a rich environment of subject matter we have right here at our own back door. I hope they’ll come to my class, let me open their eyes, and teach them enough painting basics so they can go on to capture some of Grundy County’s natural beauty for themselves.”
