After conducting classroom spelling bees for grades 4th through 8th at Swiss Memorial Elementary School, the first place champions' names were put into a drawing for a gift card of their choice. Chelsae Layman, 5th grade, was the lucky winner and she chose a $15 Xbox gift card.

The Grundy County 4-H Homeschool group kicked off the new year with a photo contest. Winners were Rebekah Meeks in the 4th to 5th grade group, Hannah Parvin (first place) and Jaden Gipson (second place) in the 6th to 8th grade group, and Shianne Layne for high school.
