Janet Layne, principal at Monteagle Elementary School, recently earned her doctorate degree, Ed. D, from Carson Newman University in Jefferson City. She majored in Curriculum and Instruction and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her enrollment period.
Layne’s dissertation was on the topic of “Standards-Based Grading in the Middle School Setting and the Impact on Student Achievement and Self-Efficacy.”
Layne is the daughter of Peggy Fults Cash of Winchester, and Philip Fults of Tracy City. She has been in education for 28 years and has spent the last 12 years as the principal at Monteagle Elementary School in Marion County. Layne is married to Russell Layne and resides in Monteagle, and they have one daughter, Olivia Layne.
