The Lady Yellow Jackets have moved to 5-0 on the season winning four games over the last week. They are 1-0 in district play. This is the best start for a Grundy softball team in some time but they have some tougher competition coming up this week including district powerhouse Sequatchie County.

“The girls have been working hard. Even though we’re young we have a lot of experience and a lot of returning players. Everybody on the team is set in a position where they’re expected to help us. Right now the biggest thing is the girls get along. We have attitudes and emotions in check. We still have a long way to go to be where we want to be. We’ve definitely not played our best ball. We’re still committing some errors and not being selective enough with our pitch selection when we’re batting. We’re coming along but we’ve got a long way to go still.

We’re excited about where we are right now. We’re excited about how far the program has come. We’ve done a lot of work out here. The facilities are in good shape and we just want people to come out and watch us weather it’s home or away. We want them to support us and let the girls know that people are excited about Grundy softball,” said Coach Jason Evans.

Tuesday the Lady Jackets played at Jasper barring weather. Today they travel to Dunlap to face the Lady Indians at 5:00. Friday they travel to DeKalb County for a doubleheader beginning at 4:30. The girls will be on spring break next week and resume action April 4 in the Ooltewah Classic. Get out and support the Lady Yellow Jackets this week!!
