Lady Mountain Lions Volleyball Update

On February 19, The St. Andrew’s-Sewanee Middle School girls’ varsity volleyball team played Jasper Middle School and Monteagle Elementary School. The Mountain Lions were defeated by MES in three sets, with scores of 25-13, 23-25, and 6-15; and by JMS in two set with scores of 13-25 and 21-25. Lady Mountain Lions Lucy Cassell, Madison King, Ava Carlos, and Ellie Jenkins all had several aces and good serve receives.
On February 26, the varsity team played Pelham Elementary School at home. The Mountain Lions won in two sets with scores of 25-23 and then 25-13. Lady Mountain Lions Reese Michael’s and Ava Carlos had several very good serves while Madison King and Lucy Cassell had a lot of good sets. The junior varsity also had a scrimmage at home against PES, but were defeated after three sets with scores of 22-25, 25-18 and 15-9. SAS players Anja Dombrowski, Sara Knight and Emily Bailey all had excellent passes.
On February 26, the varsity team played Tracy City Elementary School and PES at Pelham Elementary School. SAS defeated both TCES and PES. The score for the TCES game was 25-16 and 25-18. SAS player Reese Michaels had amazing passes and Lady Mountain Lion Madison King had many impressive hits and sets. The score for the Pelham game was 25-20 and 25-18.
The SAS varisity team is now 6-1 for the season. The next varsity competition is March 26, against Swiss Memorial Elementary School and Palmer Elementary School, at home. The junior varsity team has a tournament on March 9, at MES.
