Grundy softball had a full week playing four games. They lost to Huntland 18-17, Cumberland County 13-8, and Sequatchie County 13-3. Their only win of the week came on Senior Night against Van Buren winning 14-0. The Lady Jackets are 4-15 overall and 1-7 in District 7AA.
“The season is winding down and we are playing better. We just haven’t been able to force our way over the hump. The past two weeks we have had numerous chances to win ball games but we continue to let teams hang around.
“Our team has definitely shown their resiliency this year. Our coaching staff still feels like we are going to stun some teams in the tournament next week. We have a good team, and although our record isn’t the best, we are playing good ball. Once we are able to avoid the big inning, we will see it pay off.
“We had a great game on Friday for our Senior Night, the student body came out to support the girls and I was glad to see them get a win on their final home game. These are four great girls that have done a lot for our program and given a lot to it. We can’t wait to get them a few more wins before they leave us,” says Coach Evans.
