Last week was another busy week for the Lady Yellow Jackets. On Monday, they traveled to Marion County and came up short, but soon bounced back to win at home against district foe Sequatchie County in 3 games.
On Wednesday, they traveled to Saint Andrews to win 15-12 in the fifth set, and hosted and beat Bledsoe County on Thursday.
At the end of the week, the Lady Jackets beat Saint Andrews in another nail biter by a score of 16-14 in the third set. They finished 4-1 on the week.
“The girls began hitting on all cylinders last week. They came up with some excellent defensive rallies and hit the ball with confidence. I like where we are going into post-season tournaments. The current record is 15-12, with a district record of 4-3. This will be the last week of regular season action,” said Coach Allison Borne.
On Monday, September 29, the Lady Jackets played Coffee County for Senior Night. Scores: first set – Grundy 20, Coffee 25; second set -Grundy 25, Coffee 21; Third set – Grundy 8, Coffee 15.
Scores were not available at press time for their match-up on Tuesday against Chattanooga Christian.
On Thursday, they will travel to Signal Mountain for their final regular season match up.
“The door is wide open for the seeding in the tournament, and the district meeting will be held next Monday. The district tournament will begin on Tuesday October 7,” said Borne.
